SpendVerdict ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable laws.

1. Who we are

2. Data we collect

We collect the following categories of data:

Email address

If you sign up for rent alerts, we collect your email address via our sign-up form (processed by Netlify Forms). You are not required to provide an email to use the calculator.

Usage data (with consent)

If you accept cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymised data about pages visited, time on site, and general geographic region (country level). We do not collect precise location, device fingerprints, or personal identifiers.

Usage data (no consent required)

We also use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-first analytics tool that sets no cookies and collects no personal data. Plausible data is fully anonymised and aggregated.

The rent calculator itself operates entirely client-side. The salary, rent, and city values you enter are not transmitted to our servers and are not stored or logged anywhere.

Google Analytics cookies are only set if you click Accept on the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser cookies for this site and refreshing the page.

4. How we use your data

We use data for the following purposes:

  • Email: to send occasional rent market updates, if you subscribed. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • Analytics: to understand which cities and features are most useful, and to improve the product.
  • No data is sold to third parties.
  • No data is used for advertising targeting or profiling.

5. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)

Under GDPR, we process your data on the following legal bases:

  • Consent — for Google Analytics cookies and email sign-up.
  • Legitimate interests — for Plausible Analytics (cookieless, no personal data collected).

6. Data retention

  • Email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe.
  • Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months (the minimum GA4 setting).
  • Plausible analytics data is retained for 24 months in aggregate form.

7. Your rights

Under GDPR and applicable laws, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction or deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict processing
  • Data portability (where applicable)
  • Withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior processing)
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
